President’s Message:
November 25th, 2011
Hello Brothers and Sisters,
First and foremost I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members and their families who joined us at the London Day of Action. It is important that we continue to support one another and stand behind our rights. Together we can make a difference.
Please note that on June 24th 2012, our contract is up and as a result we have formed a Negotiation Committee which consists of Steve Weller, Sergio Vassalli, Stevan Black and Rick Skedden. Furthermore, we have elections coming up in April. Please keep checking our website for updates on the exact date of elections and further information.
We continue to emphasize the value of communication; it keeps you updated and informed on relevant and significant information happening in your local and community. As a result, we have created four new and exciting ways for you to communicate with us and one another. Firstly, please visit our new website wWW.USW7135.CA on a regular basis. On the top right, you will find a tab called “Webmail”. Click on this and follow the instructions in order to access your very own USW 7135 email address. The benefits of having webmail are endless. Not only is this feature accessible to you, but also to your spouse and family. This will simplify communication barriers. In other words, we can contact you via email about news, updates and events. Our next three forms of communication are also social media related. On the home page of our new website, you will find three tabs called “Facebook”, “Twitter” and “YouTube”. These three new initiatives will allow you to access visuals of our locals’ events, content on important updates and news and much more. I kindly request that you all join these three social media pages! If you have Facebook, please “Like” our page. If you have Twitter, “Follow” us and if you do or do not have a YouTube account, you can still access our videos.
In terms of your work in the plant, I request that you keep the following in mind. Firstly, I ask that all smokers respect the non-smokers. In other words, please smoke in a designated area ensuring that you are not disturbing non smokers. Lastly, please ensure you are following safety guidelines of the plant at all times! We value you and your life and we emphasize the importance of safety. Be safe and make smart decisions. Thank you for your co-operation.
Sincerely,
Steve Weller President
